Following the release of Amplify and Lithium, Rodriguez Jr. shines a light on two more creations from his forthcoming studio album, Feathers & Bones – set for worldwide release on May 26 via his newly launched imprint of the same name. Revealing the album title track and a mighty collaboration with legendary UK outfit Stereo MC’s, Feathers & Bones and Turn The Light On are out now.
Floating across a laidback sonic environment, Feathers & Bones explores intricate sounds and textures to achieve a sublime atmosphere. Embodying the essence of Rodriguez Jr.’s vision for the imprint, the title track is an instrumental composition that explores different influences, while keeping a strong melodic foundation. Teaming up with Stereo MC’s, Turn The Light On is a musical juncture between modern and old school dance culture. Experimenting with light and heavy elements, this bold cut encourages freedom of expression through its spoken lyrics and hybrid sound palette.
Talking about Turn The Light On, Stereo MC’s said: “When we first heard the track rhythm, we were drawn to its modern take on a classic electro vibe, which gave rise to the idea of the lyrics, our existence as an energy, and the vocoder ideas like the old breaking records of the early 80’s.”
Speaking about his album project, Rodriguez Jr. mentioned: “You may notice the obvious influence of the music I listened to while growing up in the 90s, as this glorious sonic memory echoes throughout the tracks, infused with the colors of the Miami sky.”
